Arthur Miller was born on October 17, 1915 in Harlem, New York. He was an immigrant family of Polish and Jewish descent. In 1929 his family lost almost everything in the Wall Street Crash. They had to move to Flatbush, Brooklyn. After graduating high school, he attended the University of Michigan. He wrote his first splay called No Villain, which won the school's Avery Hopwood Award and from there he started as a playwright. His first critical and popular success was Death of a Salesman and won the Pulitzer Price. He made a play called The Crucible later on. Miller married to Marilyn Monroe. In February 10,2005, he died at the age of 89.
His role with Communism and how it influenced his writing the play He was inspired to write The Crucible reflecting the mass cultural and political hysteria produced when the U.S. government hunted communists and radical leftist activity in America.
